Unbeaten middleweight prospect Niall Brown has signed a promotional deal with Wasserman.
Brown, 11-0 (4 KOs), has certainly had a solid grounding. The Stockport born 26-year-old was a decorated Thai boxer who reached the top of the British rankings under the guidance of the revered Grand Master Sken before deciding to concentrate on his hands and linking up with Pat Barrett at the famous old Collyhurst and Moston Gym.
Barrett likes to ensure that his fighters receive a thorough education before turning them over to larger promoters and Brown has been kept busy since turning professional back in July 2022. His progress may well have been even quicker had a hand injury not kept him out of the ring for the majority of last year.
Brown is a relaxed, unflappable fighter who is at his best when he uses his jab to set up his combination punching. Earlier in his career, he occasionally allowed himself to be dragged into fights but has been punch perfect since returning from his injury. Although he has built his record against the usual list of journeymen who patrol the British small hall scene, the way he has dealt with them suggests a bright future.
Barrett’s system has already taken Zelfa Barrett and Lyndon Arthur into world class and Brown looks set to be the next fighter to roll off his production line.
