MVP announced today that “Most Valuable Prospects 10” will take place on December 13 at the Caribe Royale Resort.
Headlining the event will be Antonio Vargas, 18-1 (10 KOs), facing Nicaraguan prospect Winston “El Fantasma” Guerrero, 22-0 (13 KOs), in a 12-round bantamweight bout for a vacant interim title. Vargas, 28, is coming off a victory over Jonathan Rodriguez in February 2024. Guerrero, 24, will be striving to maintain his unbeaten record and claim a strap.
The co-main event will feature 18-year-old boxing prodigy and actor Javon “Wanna” Walton, 1-0-1 (1 KO), against Erik Hanley, 1-1 (1 KO), in a four-round junior lightweight contest. Walton will be aiming for his second win following a split draw in his pro debut. Hanley, 31, is coming off a knockout victory in February.
“I’m ready to show the world the new and improved Wanna Walton,” said Walton.
The card will also include a heavyweight showdown between undefeated Gurgen “Big Gug” Hovhannisyan, 6-0 (6 KOs), and Patrick “Magic” Mailata, 6-2 (3 KOs). Hovhannisyan, 26, a rising star based in Los Angeles, last stopped Luis Pascual in May 2024. Mailata, 29, will be aiming to rebound from a split decision loss to Antonio Mireles in 2023.
The event, available on DAZN, will coincide with the World Boxing Association’s annual convention.
