Conor McGregor hasn’t fought since he broke his leg in a 2021 MMA loss to Dustin Poirier, but has announced on X today that he’s planning on facing Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition match before returning to the octagon.

“The rumors of a bout with Topurio are false,” McGregor posted. “I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”

Logan Paul is perhaps best known for facing Floyd Mayweather in a 2021 exhibition match that probably didn’t live up to expectations in the ring, while McGregor also fought Mayweather in his one and only professional boxing match in 2017, where he was stopped in 10 rounds.

If this fight between Paul and McGregor comes off it’ll just be boxing’s latest novelty match which appeals to casual audiences much more than true fans of the sport, although there still could be big economic gains to be had.
