UPDATE: Prograis withdraws from Duarte fight with shoulder injury, Madueno steps in

Fighting

Jake Donovan announced yesterday that super lightweight Regis Prograis has suffered a shoulder injury in training, forcing him out of a February 15th DAZN main event opposite Oscar Duarte.

Prograis (29-3, 24 KO) appeared to confirm the news on his Twitter this morning.

It’s definitely awkward timing for DAZN, which just unveiled the full undercard lineup yesterday. We’ll see if they can scrounge up an alternative for Duarte (28-2-1, 22 KO), who’s on a hot streak and on the verge of contention.

The ideal opponent would be fellow contender Kenneth Sims Jr, who’s set for a mismatch against Kendo Castaneda that same evening. Sims and Duarte were set to meet in November before the former suffered a knee injury, and while I 100% would not blame him for turning down a dangerous slugger on less than two weeks’ notice, I can dream. We’ll let you know if and when Golden Boy puts the pieces back together.

UPDATE: Jake Donovan reports that Miguel Madueno (31-3, 28 KO) will step in for Prograis. Madueno dropped a unanimous decision to Keyshawn Davis in July.
